Research Professor School of Microelectronics
Dr. George Zhang is now a research professor at School of Microelectronics in Southern University of Science and Technology. He received the Ph.D. degree in physics under Prof. Chenming HU from University of California at Berkeley in 1995. Dr. Zhang has more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He is a pioneer in the fields of 3-D memory and 3-D computation. He invented more than one hundred patents, most of which are U.S. patents. Under a license from Dr. Zhang, Matrix Semiconductor manufactured the first 3-D memory product in the industry. Dr. Zhang’s patented technologies are used by both Intel’s 3D-XPoint and YMTC’s Xtacking.
