Research

YIN Jiaxin works on utilizing advanced spectroscopy to discover, elucidate, and manipulate quantum matter (including magnetism, superconductivity and topological states) in solid-state materials. Yin has published over 70 papers, and has wrote related reviews in Nature, Nature Reviews, Nature Physics et al. Yin has published 8 Nature/Science, 8 Nature Reviews/Physics/Materials, and 24 PRL/journal with a similar rank. Yin has built a long-term collaboration with world leading research affiliations, including IOP-CAS, Peking University, Tokyo University, Nanyang Technological University, Max Planck Institute, PSI, Princeton University et al. Yin and his collaborators coherently utilize spectroscopy, transport, scattering, model and first-principles to explore and expand the frontier of quantum emergence. Yin have made contributions in:

1. Development of advanced micro-spectroscopy technique and report of a series of kagome magnets and superconductors as well as their quantum level tunability embracing both topology and correlation since 2018, which invites a new frontier in quantum materials as topological kagome materials.

2. Report of the Majorana-like zero-energy mode in an iron-based superconductor since 2015, which inspires research on the topological iron-based superconductivity and zero mode therein, leading to a new direction in searching for high-temperature Majorana fermions for quantum computation.

 

Yin is building a Laboratory for Quantum Emergence in the physics department of Sustech, with key research directions not limited to:

1. State-of-the-art spectroscopy under extreme conditions, including ultra-low temperature and vectorial magnetic field.

2. Exploration of new materials and mechanisms for quantum computation.

3. Searching for emergent matter (in analogy to black hole and quantum gravity) in quantum materials.
