Peng Wang, Chair Professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Medicine of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), distinguished Professor of Ministry of Education, Ohio Eminent Scholar, and Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Eminent Scholar. He got his Bachelor degree from Nankai University in 1984 and obtained his PhD in University of California, Berkeley in 1990, and then worked as postdoc in University of California Berkeley and Scripps Research Institute respectively from 1991-1994. He started his research group in University of Miami as an assistant professor in 1994 and promoted to Professor of Wayne State University and Chair Professor of Georgia State University. He has served as the Dean of the school of pharmacy, Nankai University and has founded the national sugar Engineering Technology Research Center, and served as the director of the sugar research center. He has won a number of domestic and international awards, undertaken a number of scientific research projects in China and the United States, hold 8 invention patents, and published 7 academic monographs and more than 440 papers in international academic journals, with the h-index values of 57 (Google Scholar) and 47 (web of Science) respectively. He has won a number of national and international awards and is the recipient of the American Chemical Society's Claude Hudson Award (to honor the most outstanding scholars and entrepreneurs in sugar science research, education and application). Besides, he is the deputy editor or editorial board member of many international academic journals. As an expert in the field of sugar chemistry, his research interests include pharmaceutical chemistry, sugar biology, chemical biology, glycoproteomics, etc.; as well as biological engineering of natural products, enzyme catalytic reaction, green chemistry, chemical biology of active nitrogen and oxygen in life.
