Prof. WANG Kai is an Associate Professor in Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Southern University of Science and Technology of China. His main research interests are materials, devices and packaging of LED and quantum dot LED. He has published over 150 SCI journal papers, which have been cited over 3400 times with an H-Index of 32, and 1 academic book, and authorized 25 granted invention patents in China and 2 in USA. His research achievement was awarded the second prize of the National Award for Technological Invention in 2016 (ranking 5) and the first prize of the National Ministry of Education Award for Technological Innovation in 2016 (ranking 5). He is the recipient of Guangdong Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar.
Personal Profile
Dr. Kai Wang, is currently an Associate Professor in the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), China. He obtained his B.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2006 and 2011 respectively. He was the vice president of Guangdong Real Faith Optoelectronics Co. Ltd from 2011 to 2013. Then he joined in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of SUSTech in 2013. His research focuses on materials, devices and packaging technologies of light emitting diodes (LEDs), including GaN LEDs, quantum dot LEDs and perovskite LEDs, and their applications in emerging display and solid-state lighting. He has achieved a series of research achievements in the fields of efficient photon generation and extraction, accurate light field regulation and highly stable luminescence. He has published more than 130 articles on SCI academic journals about LEDs (citations over 2700, Web of Science H-index of 29), including IEEE Access, IEEE Electron Device Letters, IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, Advanced Science, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Nano Energy, Nanophotonics, Optics Express, Optics Letters, etc. He has also published more than 50 conference papers and 1 academic book of Freeform Optics for LED Packages and Applications. He has authorized 25 granted invention patents in China and 2 in USA. His research achievements are awarded the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award of the P. R. China in 2016, the first prize of the National Ministry of Education Technological Invention Award of the P. R. China in 2016, and the first prize of the Natural Science Award of Hubei Province in 2015. He is the recipient of the Guangdong Science and Technology Innovation Youth Talent and Guangdong Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar.
He is currently a member of IEEE, IEEE Photonics Society and IEEE Components, Packaging, and Manufacturing Technology Society. And he also is a committee member of the IEEE Photonics Society Guangdong Chapter, IEEE Beijing Section Nanotechnology Council Guangdong Chapter and OSA Shenzhen Local Section, a committee member of the National Flat Panel Display Technical Committee for Standardization, and the deputy director of the Shenzhen Key Laboratory for Quantum Dots based Advanced Display and Lighting. He is a guest editor of Nanomaterials. He serves as a reviewer of more than 30 journals.
