Professor Department of Ocean Science and Engineering Research Group
Dr. Ting Yang, professor of Department of Ocean Science and Engineering at SUSTech. Professor Yang obtained his Ph.D degree from Graduate School of Oceanography at University Rhode Island in 2005, he worked at UT Austin as a post-doctor during 2006-2007. He then worked at Tongji University as an Associated Professor and became a professor in 2015. He joined SUSTech in 2016.
Professor Yang Ting has been engaged in marine geophysics and marine seismology for a long time. His research interests mainly include imaging the earth's internal structure by using the propagation of seismic waves, studying the underground structure and the characteristics and source area of ambient noise by using seismic ambient noise records, etc. In recent years, Professor Yang Ting has focused on the development and application of broadband ocean bottom seismograph (OBS) for observing undersea natural earthquakes. He presided over the first large-scale passive source OBS array observation experiment in China in the South China Sea. At present, he leads the SUSTech Ocean Bottom Seismograph Laboratory (OBS Lab) in the research and development of a new generation of high-performance broadband OBS, as well as the research of seabed structure imaging and dynamic process inversion using passive source OBS observation data.

Dr.Yang is devoting to marine geophysics and marine seismology. His research interest mainly includes imaging the earth inner structure. He has developed the source side seismic tomography(3stomo). Recently, he forces on the developing of passive source ocean bottom seismometer（OBS）and its application. He has led the fist passive source OBS network experiment in South China Sea. Nowadays, he's the director of SUSTech OBS Lab, which is developing new generation OBS cooperating with IPGP. Processing OBS data ,tomography of earth structure and inversion of geodynamic process are his research interests as well.
