刘晓光教授于2004年在浙江大学竺可桢学院获得学士学位,并于2010年在美国普渡大学获得电子与计算机工程学博士学位。他于2011年11月以助理教授的身份加入加州大学戴维斯分校电子与计算机工程系,并于2017年晋升终身(tenured)副教授。2021年3月,刘教授以长聘教授的身份加入南方科技大学深港微电子学院。

刘教授课题组聚焦于高频高速集成电路与系统的设计和实现技术,具体的研究方向包括:高频(射频到太赫兹)和高速集成电路设计;微电子、光电子、微机电器件;可调谐射频电路与系统;及高频电路在工业和医疗等领域的应用。刘教授的课题组在多个研究方向(如高效率太赫兹频率源,高功率承载能力的射频微机电器件,可调滤波器等)获得了世界领先的科研成果,在知名学术期刊和会议(包括顶级期刊JSSC,TMTT等)上发表了超过120篇论文。在加州大学戴维斯分校任职期间,刘教授承接了近500万美元的横向和纵向科研项目,以博士生导师或共同导师身份培养了18位博士生及7位博士后。
