His research interests are focused on the development and application of new synthetic strategies and methods for the concise and efficient total synthesis of bioactive natural products, such as macrolipids, cyclic peptides, steroids and terpenoids, and their SAR (structure-activity relationship) studies. Several bioactive natural products, e.g. scytonemin A, burkholdac A, padanamides A&B (participation), itralamide B (participation), des-thiomethyllooekeyolide A, rhizopodin, have been synthesized successfully. Moreover, the asymmetric total synthesises of structurally novel compounds, cyclococitrinol and cerorubenic acid-III, have been realized for the first time. As the first/co-first author, he has published many research papers in famous organic journals, including the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Chem, Organic Letters, Chemical Communications, Chemistry-An Asian Journal, etc., and he is currently serving as a reviewer for Chemical Science, RSC Advances.
