Dr. Wenfei Jin is an Associate Professor (PI) in Department of Biology in Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He has worked on population genetics and precision medicine related field since his Ph.D. program. He has published >30 research articles and book chapters, including first author and corresponding author articles on Nature, Nat Methods, Genome Res, AJHG and Genome Biol. He and his colleagues developed single cell DNase-seq that provides key regulatory information for precision medicine (Jin, et.al, 2015 Nature).
Dr. Wenfei Jin received his bachelor’s degree from Zhengzhou University in 2006. He received his Ph.D. in Computational biology from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Max Planck Society Partner Institute for Computational Biology (PICB) with Prof. Li Jin (CAS member) and Prof. Shuhua Xu in 2012. Dr. Jin completed his Postdoc Fellow in systems biology in National Institutes of Health (NIH) with Dr. Keji Zhao in 2017. Dr. Jin is the recipient of many honors and awards including Springer Theses, CAS Excellent Doctoral Dissertation and NHLBI Orloff Award. Dr. Jin is especially interested in promoting the applications of single cell sequencing in clinical diagnosis and medical consultation.
Dr. Jin is interested in 1) single cell sequencing and its applications in cancer biology; 2) bioinformatics and identifying genetic/epigenetic changes that drive oncogenesis; 3) developing cancer prediction and treatment model for precision medicine.

Dr. Jin received his bachelor's degree from Zhengzhou University in 2006. He received his Ph.D. in Computational biology from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Max Planck Society Partner Institute for Computational Biology (PICB) with Prof. Li Jin (CAS member) and Prof. Shuhua Xu in 2012. Research interests
Dr. Jin’s lab is interested in identifying genetic/epigenetic changes that drive oncogenesis, and developing disease risk prediction model for precision medicine. The long-term goal of the lab is to develop efficient personalized treatment for cancers based on patients’ genetic background. In near future, the lab will focus on investigating genetic/epigenetic heterogeneity and micro-evolution of cancer cells using single cell sequencing related technologies.

Research
The long-term goal of Jin lab is developing precision diagnosis and treatment for cancers. Currently, our lab mainly works on designing single cell multi-omics approaches to address questions in development and medicine, particularly focus on:
1) Developing single cell sequencing to study tumor microenvironment and model tumor development
2) Investigating the cellular heterogeneity and its mechanism via single cell technology

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, graduate students and interns with interesting in single cell sequencing and precision medicine to join our lab. Dr. Wenfei Jin’s lab in the Southern University of Science and Technology is interested in 1) single cell sequencing and its applications in cancer biology; 2) identifying genetic/epigenetic changes that drive oncogenesis; 3) developing cancer prediction and treatment model for precision medicine. The long-term goal of the lab is to develop efficient personalized treatment for cancers based on patients’ genetic background. In near future, the lab will focus on investigating genetic/epigenetic heterogeneity and micro-evolution of cancer cells using single cell sequencing related technologies. The lab is well funded by multiple programs including "National Key R&D Program" and "National Science Foundation of China (NSFC)".
- Postdoc’s annual total salary usually is about 330,000 RMB(48,000 USD) per year, (Applicants should have a track-record of high quality publications).
- Scholarship is highly competitive (about >80,000 RMB per year for PhD student; about >40,000 RMB per year for graduate student)
- Stipends for intern will depends on applicant’s performance.
