Professor (Industry-University-Research) Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Renjing Cao is a Professor (Industry-University-Research) in Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and now taking a lead in the research in the area of renewable energy. Before joining SUSTech in 2018, he had been working with Ming Yang Smart Energy Co. Ltd, a leading wind energy total solution provider, as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Scientist, respectively. He was educated in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1990, and received his Ph.D. degree in 1996 from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics majoring in jet propulsion and turbomachinery aerodynamics. After completing his PhD work, he had more than 9-years expertise in his research, as a post doctorate at Seoul National University in Korea, Polytechnic University of Catalonya in Spain and Ghent University in Belgium, then as Research Associate in Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Visiting Professor both at Paris Tech Arts et Metiers and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), until back to Xiamen University in 2006, as a full professor.

He has served as session organizer or session chair at international conferences in the fields of wind energy, CFD and aero-elasticity and aero-acoustics. His research interests cover (1) aerodynamics, aero-acoustics & aero-elasticity in renewable energy, (2) energy efficiency & savings, (3) smart energy. He is the member of Editorial Board of IET Renewable Power Generation as an Associate Editor.
