Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering
Asit Kumar Gain is a Research Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, China. Prior to that he held appointments as Research Fellow at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Australia (2016-2021), The Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Australia (2013-2016), Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Electronic Packaging and Assemblies, Failure Analysis and Reliability Engineering (EPA Centre), City University of Hong Kong (2011-2013). He received his PhD from City University of Hong Kong (CityU, HK) with an excellent output record and he three times received “The Outstanding Academic Performance Award for Research Degree Students” in the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies, CityU HK. He mainly focused on developing defect-free microlens arrays and their performances for microelectronic system; manufacturing bone like pore-gradient scaffolds for biomedical application; introducing highly reliable environmental-friendly electronic packaging materials and their reliability study for green miniaturized electronics, and developing 3D printed nanocomposites for bioimplants.
