Dr. Wei SHU is a Principal Investigator in the department of chemistry and a joint professor of Shenzhen Grubbs Institute at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Dr. Wei SHU received his bachelor degrees at Nankai University in chemistry and economics in 2005. He continued his graduate studies at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC, CAS), and obtained his Ph. D. degree in 2010 under the guidance of Profs. Shengming Ma and Guochen Jia. After several postdoctoral stints at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Stephen L. Buchwald), Princeton University (David W. C. Macmillan), and University of Zurich (Cristina Nevado), he started his independent research at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in 2018 and was promoted to tenured associate professor in 2023. His research interests span over methodology development, asymmetric synthesis, medicinal chemistry, flow chemistry and material sciences, with an emphasis on first-row transition metal catalysis, photochemistry, and single electron catalysis. Dr. Shu is the recipient of “1000” Talents Recruitment Program for Young Scholars, The Pearl River Talent Recruitment Program, and the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award in 2021.
