Group Members Participated in 2020 Guangdong Physical Society Annual Meeting
From December 4th to 7th, 2020, group members Chang Liu, Xiao-Ming Ma, Ruie Lu, and Yu-Jie Hao went to Zhanjiang, Guangdong to participate in the 2020 Guangdong Physical Society Annual Meeting. This annual meeting was hosted by the Guangdong Physical Society and undertaken by Lingnan Normal University. At the meeting, Dr. Ruie Lu gave an oral presentation entitled “Half-Magnetic Topological Insulator”, describing a recent collaborative work between our group and the groups of Dr. Chaoyu Chen and Prof. Qihang Liu. In this work, it is found that one of the natural cleavage planes of MnBi8Te13 opens a magnetic gap, while the other does not. This may lead to the realization of the half-magnetic quantum anomalous Hall effect. In addition, Dr. Ma and Miss Hao presented posters titled “Tunable Surface Dirac Gap in Doped Magnetic Topological Insulator Mn(Bi1-xSbx)2Te4” and “Gapless surface Dirac cone in antiferromagnetic topological insulator MnBi2Te4”, respectively. These two posters respectively won the second and third prizes for the poster report issued by the conference (the conference received about 70 poster reports, among which 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and 6 third prizes are awarded).
