Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Solid State Batteries

 With high-energy density and high-safety solid state batteries as its core portfolio, the laboratory focuses on the development of solid state electrolytes with excellent comprehensive performance, systematic study of the electrolyte-electrode interfaces, and optimization of assembly and evaluation protocols. The laboratory aims at developing new solid electrolyte materials with proprietary intellectual property rights, boosting the electrolyte performance through material structure manipulation, and designing novel interfaces. Establishing the structure-performance relationships with the help of theoretical modeling and large-scale scientific facilities and accelerating the process from new material research to industrial applications are also among the laboratory’s main goals, which can lead to wide-spread application of solid-state lithium batteries, thereby contributing to a resource-saving and environmentally-friendly society.

 

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Energy Materials for Electric Power

With support from Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Solid State Batteries and Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Hydrogen Energy, the provincial key laboratory specializes in R&D of fuel cells and solid-state batteries for electrical vehicles. It aims to establish an innovative and open research platform for the study of key materials, advanced devices and fundamental mechanisms in new energy areas and serve local, provincial and national researchers from related fields. Benefiting from the industry-university research cooperation mechanism of SUSTech and the newly founded large research platforms such as Shenzhen’s Material Genome and China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), the laboratory strives to accelerate the processes from R&D to industrial applications of new materials under the guidance of the sustainable development policy of Guangdong Province. The laboratory has a core group of young scientists working on the cutting-edge technologies as well as senior experts who oversee research directions, help shore up scientific rigor, and in the meantime train next-generation of professionals. Adhering to the belief of “Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, the laboratory focuses on overcoming the key technical challenges in electrochemical power source, hence providing help in realizing Guangdong’s great ambitions in clean energy development.
