Research Associate Professor Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Sciences

Dr Jian-Ping Wu spent 25 years studying and working in Australian universities. She has intensive experiences in supervising PhD students and a research team in the bioengineering field. While working in Australia, she has successfully supervised 5 PhDs to accomplish and led the research team to complete a number of national competitive research grants. She joined the Academy of Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies & Department of Biomedical Engineering in Sustech in 2018. She is an adjunct senior research fellow of the school of biomedical sciences of UWA, and has close research collaboration and PhD supervision activities with a number of universities, research institutes and R&D imaging company in Australia, which offers an excellent platform for the students and young scholars in Sustech to persuade their PhD studies and research development.

Dr Jian-Ping Wu’s research interests lie primarily in the three major domains shown below:

1.Development of minimally invasive imaging technologies as optical histology for in vivo discriminating the microstructural changes in tissues with poor self-healing capabilities.

2.3D imaging and compute imaging analysis technologies for automatic classification of the pathology of biological tissues, particularly articular cartilage, tendons and ligaments.

3.Development of techniques for in situ studying the mechanical behaviour of micro components of articular cartilage, tendons and ligaments.
