Assistant Professor School of Environmental Science and Engineering

Dr. Jun-Jian Wang obtained his doctoral degree in Plant and Environmental Sciences at Clemson University and had his postdoc training in Environmental Chemistry at the Environmental NMR Centre, University of Toronto. He is dedicated to develop and apply the cutting-edge and molecular-level analyses of natural organic matter and pollutants to study the critical impacts of global change and anthropogenic disturbance on water and soil quality. He has actively participated in research projects funded by national agencies of United States, Canada, and China. He published 34 papers on top-tier SCI journals including Nature Communications, New Phytologist, Environmental Science & Technology, and Water Research, as well as 1 ACS book chapter. He is serving on the editorial board of the SCI journal Chinese Chemical Letters, and has also served as a panelist for NSF proposals and journal reviewer for more than 20 SCI journals.

Join us

JJWang's Research Group is newly founded at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, SUSTech. We sincerely welcome global talents to join us as full-time/visiting postdoc fellows, research associate, and graduate students.

Our group members will have internationally competitive salaries, excellent opportunities to learn about experimental designs, hands-on skills of cutting-edge chemical analyses, paper/proposal writing, oral presentation, and manuscript reviewing, as well as chances to collaborate with research groups from different countries. Members would be supported to attend academic conferences. Postdoc fellows will be encouraged and supported to write independent proposals for national and local funding agencies as the proposal PI.

Required Qualifications for postdoc fellows:
-Ph.D. in chemistry, environmental science/engineering, geochemistry, ecology, forest science, soil science or other relevant disciplines
-Demonstrated ability to independently design, conduct, and publish high-quality research works related to geochemistry, environmental chemistry, or ecology
-Excellent reading, written and oral communication skills in English or Chinese
-Strong modern lab research experience, particularly on GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR, high-resolution MS, will be preferred but not required

Required Qualifications for Ph.D. and Master students:
-Master or Bachelor degree in chemistry, environmental science/engineering, geochemistry, ecology, forest science, soil science or other relevant disciplines
-Strong interests in doing high-quality research in the fields of organic geochemistry or environmental chemistry
-Very good oral communication skills in English or Chinese, good reading and writing skills in English
-Good modern lab research experience will be preferred but is not required
-Credits and high GPA in lab-included chemistry courses is preferred if the student has no experience in a modern research lab

Please feel free to send your detailed CV (and contact information of 2-3 referees for postdoc and research associate positions) to wangjj@sustc.edu.cn just in case you are interested in joining us.
