Dr. Sun Dazhi received his Bachelor and Master in chemical engineering from Tsinghua University in 2002 and 2005 respectively. In 2009, he received a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Polymer Technology Center of Texas A&M University, and the instructor was Prof. Hung-Jue Sue who was an internationally renowned polymer materials engineering expert. Between 2009 and 2012, he joined in Soft & Bio Nanomaterials Group at the Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven National Lab, USA, and engaged in postdoctoral research on DNA-induced nanomaterial self-assembly. Since December 2012, he joined in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology as a full associate professor. Since September 2015, he has served as Academic Vice President of Zhicheng College.
Dr. Sun Dazhi is mainly engaged in the research and development of soft materials. His research interests include colloidal dispersion and self-assembly, industrial applications of colloidal dispersion systems, experimental soft matter physics, modified polymer materials, polymer composites, engineering plastics, Bio-inorganic nano-materials, smart toilet descaling filter materials, etc. Dr. Sun Dazhi has published 33 papers and 2 professional book chapters, in addition, he applied for 22 domestic and foreign patents, including 7 patents granted. He received the Spotlight Award from Brookhaven National Laboratory in 2012. He was selected in Shenzhen Peacock Plan Class B in July 2013.
In 2009, he received a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Texas A&M University.
In 2005, he received Master of Chemical Engineering and Technology in institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology from Tsinghua University.
In 2002, he obtained a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and technology from Tsinghua University.
Experience of research work
From 2012 to the present: he joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology as a full associate professor.
Research direction: soft materials (colloid and polymer).
Between 2009 and 2012, he engaged in postdoctoral research at the Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven National Lab, USA.
Research direction: DNA-induced self-assembly of nanomaterials, and the instructor was Dr. Oleg Gang.
Between 2005 and 2009: he worked in Polymer Technology Center of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University as a research assistant.
PhD thesis: Colloidal Manipulation of Nanostructures: Dispersion and Self-assembly. His instructor was Prof. Hung-Jue Sue who was an internationally renowned polymer materials engineering expert.
