Atomic ensembles are ideal platform to perform quantum optics related research, expecially when they are cooled through laser cooling and trapping technology. Reduced Doppler broadening facilitate near-resonance excitation and hence enhance nonlinear effect of the atomic medium. From nonlinear process, entangled photon pairs, squeezed light, and Schodinger cat state of light can be generated. Therefore the application includes, quantum storage and manipulation of light, optical switch of single photons, QKD, quantum imaging and precision measurement, etc.

Representative works include, observation of single photon precursor, generation and manipulation of narrowband time-frequency entangled photon pairs, pure single photon state from time-frequency entangled photon pars.

Requirement:  Atomic, molecular and optical physics, or quantum optics background in Ph.D; Prefer experimental experience in laser cooling and related techniques.
