Research Assistant Professor Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Dr. Guoqiang Gu is currently a research assistant professor at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), China. He received his Ph.D. degree in circuits and system from Xiamen University, China, in 2015, and B.E. degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China, in 2007. Before joining SUSTech, he was a postdoctoral scholar in Shenzhen University, China (2016-2018), postdoctoral scholar in the National University of Singapore, Singapore (2015-2016), and visiting scholar in the National University of Singapore, Singapore (2014). His research interests include photonic nanojets, optical microcavities, super-resolution optical imaging. He has authored/co-authored 17 peer-reviewed journal papers. He is the recipient of overseas high-caliber personnel (level C) in Shenzhen, and high-level professional (Reserve Talent) in Shenzhen.

We are looking for self-motivated graduate students who are interested in studying fundamental optical physics and exploring interesting phenomena in micro/nano-scale photonic devices. We are interested in students with background in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, biology and material science.
We welcome undergraduate students who have passion in science and new technology in optics and photonics to join our group. Interesting projects in the areas of whispering gallery mode optical microcavities, photonic nanojets and super-resolution optical imaging are available for undergraduate students.
