Personal Profile
Dr. Gong is a Professor at the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, China. He received his PhD degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Hong Kong, in 2002, and MEng and BEng degrees from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 1998 and 1995, respectively, all in electrical engineering. Prior to his current appointment, he was employed with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Hong Kong. From 1998 to 2002, he was a Research/Teaching Assistant at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, HKUST. He then joined the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Hong Kong, as a Research Scientist, where he led algorithm development for wireless networks. He has served as a technical consultant for various organizations including Panasonic R&D Center Singapore. He has been serving as a symposium chair and technical program committee member for flagship IEEE conferences including ICC and GLOBECOM. He has been an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.
