Dr. Zhiqiang LIU received his Ph.D in Marine Environmental Science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in the year 2013. He worked as a Postdoc Research Associate and then Research Assistant Professor in HKUST from 2013 to 2018. Dr. Liu joined Department of Ocean Science and Engineering in the year 2019 as an assistant professor. His research interests are mainly on the processes governing the coupled cross-scale circulation interactions in the northwestern Pacific Ocean and China Seas and numerical model. Dr. Liu has published 9 peer-viewed research papers in Journal of Geophysical Research-oceans and Journal of Physical Oceanography with over 90 citations by 2018 (Google Scholar).

Biography
Dr. Zhiqiang Liu’s main research is in the area of general circulation and dynamics of the interactive basin-slope-shelf-estuary circulations in China Seas and their multiple-scale variabilities by integrating field observations and numerical models. Dr. Liu has published 8 peer-viewed SCI journal papers, which has been cited over 70 times.

The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTC) has several immediate postdoc openings in coastal and shelf circulation modeling. We seek highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join Department of Ocean Science and Engineering in Shenzhen (next to Hong Kong), Guangdong Province, China.
Several positions are open for candidates majoring in Physical Oceanography.
Job Description: apply high-resolution regional ocean models, such as ROMS, FVCOM or SCHISM, to conduct modeling research related to coastal and shelf circulation and dynamics, with excellent scientific programing skills and knowledge of high performance computing.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must have received a PhD in Physical Oceanography or related discipline within the past five years or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
The selected candidate should demonstrate 1) solid modeling experience and knowledge with state-of-the-art ocean models; 2) strong writing and communication skills with good publication record; 3) strong problem solving skills and ability of working independently; 4) excellent scientific programing skills and knowledge of high performance computing.
Annual Salary
$45,000-$48,000 with benefits.
The annual salary can up to ~$58,000, if the candidate gets the performance-based Presidential Award of SUSTC.
